Yaa Asantewaa is famously renown in Ghana as the Warrior Queen of the Ashanti people.
We chose to name our Doll after Yaa Asantewaa as she is an extraordinary role model for our daughters, an example of strength to rise up even when the odds are stacked against you, to never give up. Each dolls comes with a detailed story about Yaa Asantewaa to inspire our young girls to stand up for their rights, believe in their strength, stand against bullies and use their voice to raise and support others.
Proceeds from the sale of each doll go to our charity partner, AYI Centres. AYI Centres are a community-based initiative that provides a centre where local children in Teshie, Ghana, can meet in a safe environment, access educational resources, free meals, tutoring and mentoring from trained peers. The centres include books, toys, games, computers and access to the Internet. Things we take for granted in our homes that not all children in Ghana get access to.
Each Doll comes dressed in an African print clothing.
Please note that print placement will vary on each doll.
